Victoria proposes sewage treatment timeline.

June 13, 2007 The Capital Regional District (Greater Victoria) Board passed an amendment to their Liquid Waste Management Plan setting a timeline for sewage treatment.

Victoria, BC June 13, 2007  The Capital Regional District ( covering Greater Victoria ) Board unanimously passed an amendment to their Liquid Waste Management Plan(LWMP) proposing a timeline for sewage treatment.

The amendment is now sent over to Minister Penner, the BC Minister of the Environment, for approval. Although Minister Penner requested this change, he has three options: accept, reject or ammend the ammendment. The T. Buck Suzuki Foundation is hoping Penner will do the later, tightening the timeline and setting higher resource recovery targets in the plan.

When the CRD's first LWMP was sent to a previous minister for approval, it took three years to approve because a key ministry demand, a set schedule for treatment, was missing in the plan. This ammendment should move forward much quicker.
