Wild Salmon Policy Consultations Announced

The goal of the Wild Salmon Policy, which was released in 2005 following six years of consultaations with First Nations, partners, and stakeholders, is to restore and maintain healthy and diverse salmon populations and their habitats for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of Canada in perpetuity.

Since 2005 there have been significant changes to WSP context and as a result, DFO is undertaking work to update the policy context of the 2005 WSP (pages 7-15), while retaining the original goal, objectives, and guiding principles.

The following consultation sessions have been scheduled, with more opportunities being announced in the coming weeks:

  • Kamloops, BC: Nov 9 from 6:30-9:00pm in the Summit Room of Thompson Rivers University
  • Prince George, BC: Nov 23 from 6:30-9:00pm at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre
  • Prince Rupert, BC: Nov 30 from 6:30-9:00pm at the Highliner Inn
  • Nanaimo, BC: Dec 5 from 6:30-9:00pm, location to be confirmed.
