Pesticides

Fungicides, herbicides and insecticides are designed to kill living species.

More and more studies are linking pesticide usage to health related problems like rising cancer and asthma rates, and at the same time leading bio-scientists are questioning the need for the usage. An outright ban is needed to protect our food chain.

Fungicides, herbicides and insecticides are designed to kill living species. Many of them end up in the food web where they can bioconcentrate and cause harm to our health.  Children are especially susceptible. Many are hazardous for pets, birds, or fish.

There are many pesticide-free solutions, for instance The Northwest Coalition for Alternatives to Pesticides  provides local alternatives.

There is a growing body of evidence that eating locally grown organic foods can help prevent cancer. See Prevent Cancer Now or Guy Dauncey for details.

In Victoria you can help by jointing Pesticide Free CRD
