Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) will help protect and restore biodiversity making our coastal communities and fisheries more resilient.

We are working with marine, labour and environmental organizations and government agencies to identify key marine areas and species to protect.

We are also taking part in various government advisory processes to establish MPAs.

Active marine planning intiatives on Canada's Pacific Coast include:

• Pacific North Coast Integrated Management Area (PNCIMA)
• Aquatic Management Board for the West Coast of Vancouver Island
• Proposed Southern Strait of Georgia National Marine Conservation Area Reserve
• Proposed Gwaii Haanas National Marine Conservation Area Reserve
