Position Description 

The Northern Campaigner will work towards the Foundation’s goal of protecting fisheries habitat and preventing pollution along BC’s north coast. This includes growing our north coast network, promoting fisheries habitat protection and pollution prevention. This role offers a dynamic work opportunity, the Northern Campaigner will work with the T.Buck staff and partner organizations to deliver appropriate programming. Travel throughout coastal BC is a possibility. 

This position is remote with the opportunity to work from Prince Rupert.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating Northern BC Campaigns, including:
  • Researching and tracking habitat and pollution issues along the Skeena, in the estuary, and along the entire coast; 
  • Supporting digital communications- newsletter, Facebook, Instagram, website;
  • Securing and maintaining project funding; 
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with partner organizations and stakeholders;
  • Creating and maintaining databases. 
  • Participating in conservation stamp initiatives around habitat protection and pollution prevention
  • Supporting other program areas including OceanSmart, marine planning and sustainable fisheries initiatives 
  • Representing the Foundation and communicating program goals to the public at various community and industry events
  • Participating in organizational activities including developing individual work plans and Objectives and Key Results, staff reporting and other processes

Knowledge & Skills

Experience

  • Experience in project and campaign management an asset
  • Experience in fundraising and budget management an asset
  • Experience in social media management, non-profit communications, or marketing an asset
  • Understanding of community economic development, enhancing coastal economic opportunities, improving social conditions in a sustainable manner 
  • Preference to those with experience working with or in Indigenous communities, marine industries, and coastal communities in B.C.
