Accessibility Statement

T. Buck Suzuki Environmental Foundation wants everyone to be able to use bucksuzuki.org. We are working to make this website accessible to people with disabilities, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control, captions or screen magnification.

We are a small organization, and we treat accessibility as ongoing work rather than a finished project. When we add new pages, images, documents or videos, we aim to make them accessible from the start.

The standard we follow

Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. WCAG is the international standard published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and explains how to make web content usable for people with a wide range of disabilities.

bucksuzuki.org is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that most of the site meets the standard, but some content does not yet. The known gaps are listed below, and we are working through them.

What we do

To keep the site accessible, we:

  • Write alternative text for images so screen readers can describe them

  • Use headings in a logical order so pages are easy to navigate and skim

  • Keep enough contrast between text and background colours

  • Make sure menus, links, buttons and forms work with a keyboard alone

  • Write link text that makes sense on its own, rather than "click here"

  • Label every form field and explain any errors in plain language

  • Add captions or transcripts to videos we produce

  • Use a layout that works when text is enlarged or viewed on a phone

  • Avoid content that flashes or moves without a way to pause it

  • Check new pages with accessibility tools and by navigating them with a keyboard and screen reader

Known limitations

Some content on bucksuzuki.org may not yet be fully accessible. We know about the following and are working to fix them:

  • Older PDF documents, such as past reports, newsletters and submissions, may not be tagged for screen readers. If you need one of these in an accessible format, contact us and we will provide it.

  • Older videos may not have captions or transcripts. We add them to new videos and are working through the back catalogue.

  • Older images and maps may have missing or incomplete alternative text.

  • Third-party content we embed or link to, such as donation forms, social media feeds and partner websites, is controlled by those organizations and may not meet the same standard.

Feedback and alternate formats

If you have trouble using any part of this website, or you need information from it in another format, please contact us. We will respond within 5 business days.

When you write to us, it helps to include the web address of the page, a short description of the problem, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. We will not share your contact details with anyone else.

We can provide most content in large print, plain text or another format on request.

Technical details

This website is built to work with current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, and with common screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver. It relies on HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and is designed to work with assistive technologies that support those standards.

This statement was last reviewed on October 14, 2026. We review it at least once a year and whenever we make major changes to the site.
