Guiding Values

We believe that healthy marine ecosystems and the well-being of coastal communities are intrinsically linked. People are a part of ecosystems, and fish harvesters have among the most direct connections with, and knowledge of, the marine ecosystems on which their livelihoods, food supply, and communities depend. Local fisheries are essential to the physical, economic, nutritional, cultural, social, and spiritual well-being of B.C.'s coastal communities.

We strive to support and promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and mindfulness throughout our entire organization and in our work with our communities. Our approach in supporting diversity and inclusion considers demographics throughout the province and systemic barriers that many groups face resulting from historical and codified policies of exclusion. Our understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and mindfulness will evolve as we learn and work on implementing this framework
