The OceanSmart program was developed to help commercial mariners reduce their environmental footprint. The program takes a three-pronged approach:         

• Our Green Boating Guide offers environmentally friendly tips for mariners in areas such as cleaners, vessel maintenance, and waste management.
• Our Fuel Efficiency Guide identifies operation and design measures to make vessels more efficient. 

• OceanSmart App – Currently paused. The app, when active, allows mariners to quickly report spills or contamination to Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard, and other relevant authorities, helping to shorten clean-up times and make responses more efficient.

Links to OceanSmart for Android and iOS will be available once the app is back in service.
